 Με το βιβλίο του: ΣΤΙΓΜΕΣ ΚΑΙ ΣΤΟΧΑΣΜΟΙ, με φωτογραφίες και φιλοσοφικά κείμενα, που κυκλοφόρησε στην ελληνική γλώσσα από τις Εκδόσεις ΜΙΛΗΤΟΣ, απευθύνεται στο τουρκικό και στο ελληνικό κοινό, με προσπάθειες για την ανάπτυξη και αναζωογόνηση της ελληνοτουρκικής φιλίας.
O ίδιος γράφει στα εισαγωγικά κείμενα του βιβλίου του: «Φιλοσοφία… φωτογραφίες… και ‘Στιγμές και Στοχασμοί’. Μια ζωή ανεξέταστη, δεν αξίζει να τη ζεις, όπως είπε και ο Σωκράτης. Με το ‘Στιγμές και Στοχασμοί’ από τη μία ανακρίνω τη ζωή και από την άλλη προσπαθώ να προβάλω τα χρώματα και τις ομορφιές της.»

 A Philosophy book from a Turkish writer in Greece, where philosophy has been born. Uğur Oral, with his fluent writing style, shares his perspective on life, his own theories, and his philosophies with Greek readers; with an accompaniment of the photos from his exhibitions.

Things attempted for the first time are different. And different things always draws attention. In fact, Στιγμές και Στοχασμοί is the result of Turkish journalist Uğur Oral’s interesting and brave attempt.

“Everything started in 2012” says journalist-writer Uğur Oral who is well known in İzmir with his successful journalism career. Uğur Oral who is in big love with photograpy and philosophy besides journalism wanted to try to combine his two passions. And first time, he tried to perform an exhitibion in İzmir where photography and philosophy were existing together. At his exhibition titled “Let The Life Flow İn You” he installed his philosophical essays of next to each photo. “I was writing an articles for many years in the field of philosophy. Until that moment, no one had to read them, frankly ı was writing for myself. I was wondering what others would think about my essays.Plus; combination of photography and philosophy at an exhibition, would be attempted for the first time.”

The exhibition has been very successful; has attracted great attention in the media and in the art circle. İnterestingly his philosophical essays attracted more attention than his photos. “Visitors of exhibition were photographing my essays and posting them on their social media accounts. For a longtime ı saw my essays everywhere” says Uğur Oral.

The same year Uğur Oral has been invited to Athens for performing his first personal photography exhibition. His friends wanted him to bring the same concept to Athens too… Some essays have been quickly translated to Greek and he performed his first exhibition titled Under The Same Sky in Athens at Booze Cooperativa. “I lived the same situation in Athens too” says Uğur Oral, “Greek art lovers have shown an interest in my essays even bigger than ı ever imagined. A lot of visitors at the exhibition's opening reception wanted me to transform this concept into a book. And some of them wrote this suggestion even on exhibition’s memory book. I was very glad, very happy but ı must confess that ı was also very surprised too once again. As a matter of fact; ı never had no idea to write such a book; Greek art lovers, with a motivation that they gave to me, have been the occasion of Στιγμές και Στοχασμοί indeed. So, ı can easly and frankly say that I wrote this book at the request of Greek art lovers. An intelectual friend of mine with who I shared these experiences wanted to introduce me to Mr Nikos Chatzigeorgiou, the vice president of Militos Editions. He showed great interest in Στιγμές και Στοχασμοί and wanted to publish my book. Each time I visited Athens I met him and we exchanged ideas. Finally, Στιγμές και Στοχασμοί has been published in the month of April 2016, and met Greek book lovers from whole Greece…”

How can we call Στιγμές και Στοχασμοί? Philosophy or photography book? “A philosophy book adorned with photos” replied Uğur Oral. He continued: “The unexamined life is not worth living” says Socrates. This quote is my main inspiration. At my philosopical essay ı tried to examine the life, the human, the feelings etc… All of the essays in my book are my own philosophies, my own rules and my own principles. During my 30 years passed in journalism I listened to a very different life stories, ı met very different lives. I saw almost all of colors of the rainbow. And ı wrote my personal opinions, subjective comments by way of my essays. Briefly I wrote what life has taught me, at Στιγμές και Στοχασμοί”

What does he think on the interest of Greek readers for Στιγμές και Στοχασμοί? Replies Uğur Oral: “I must confess that to publish a philosophy book in the land of the birthplace of philosophy was for me a very brave decision. I have received very positive feedback from those who read my book. I believe I've built an intimate bond with Greek readers, Last year ı attended to some several presentations organised in Thessaloniki and Athens, ı met Greek readers, ı signed my book for them. I will attend to 2nd part of presantations soon. Στιγμές και Στοχασμοί began to be recognized and to be heard. I already performed 4 personal photography exhibitions in Greece ı gave a lot of lectures, ı met a lot of people from Greece at his activities. At the same time ı am an intelectual who struggles volunteer for developping Turkish-Greek friendship. Therefore, ı think, my name is not foreign for Greek people. They become slowly aware of my book. So far, the comments that listened to from Greek book lovers; gives me hope for the future.”

Why philosophy? “Cogito ergo sum (I think thefore ı am) says Descartes. I believe,to think, to intorragate and to question must be the reason of being for human. And with my book, ı I wanted to give people inspiration thinking and questioning. Firstly when we say philosophy, people can think about very heavy kind of book. But ı wrote all my essays as ı am chatting with a friend like poetry, with a very simple expressions. My friend Olga Firuze Kurt translated my essays to Greek with a same mentality. I have also mission of endearing philosophy to the people. I think and ı hope my book would be a also good beginning too for the ones that will meet first time philosophy. “

As a matter of fact Uğur Oral he is known by his articles in the field of politics where he has his academic master and PhD degrees… His first book published in Turkey in 1995 was about politics. Since he can use two languages (French and English) some of his articles have been published in other countries too… So, does he have another book project for Greece? “Yes” says Uğur Oral “Next time ı will try another “first” he adds “At my last visit ı told about my new book project to my publisher. He said that it would be very interesting book for Greek readers. I have been 12 times in your country. I have many Greek friends I am always in contact. Last year ı performed a series of interviews titled “Where is Greece going” and ı met with a very important Greek opinion leaders. These series of interviews have been published in a very famous Turkish newspaper full page, during 6 days and made a big echo... I have a lot to say about Greece according to my observations. Next time they will read my observations about Greece, Greek people, economic crisis in Greece etc. But firstly, the 1st edition of my book already published must be fully finished; it’s my condition. That’s why my priority is Στιγμές και Στοχασμοί right now.
